From small beginnings as a one man operation building sheds and gates, the company soon progressed to manufacturing hydraulic tip trailers, still a mainstay of the Giltrap business. In the 1970's Giltrap's signature range of forage wagons was developed, with many additional product lines added over the years.
Today Giltrap employs more than 50 staff between its base in Otorohanga, and the Australian distribution centre in Melbourne. Giltrap's head office remains in Otorohanga and includes design and manufacture, as well as sales, support and distribution for New Zealand.
The Giltrap factory now produces hundreds of items of agricultural equipment each year which are distributed to a network of more than 80 dealers throughout New Zealand and Australia, as well as export markets in South East Asia, Africa, and South America.
The company's goal is continue providing innovative and reliable solutions, designed and perfected in the field, with farmers and contractors recognised as our most important research and development tool. With this invaluable feedback and flow of ideas, we can offer the most practical and intuitive equipment for agriculture.
